It's March Already?
So, apparently Kaylah hasn't had a chance to read her eviction notice, because she is still posted up and cozy in Mom! Another 10 days until her due date, but we are anxious! I'm not sure why, since we didn't (and I guess still don't...) expect her until the 13th, but when everyone keeps repeating the 3 words "any time now...", we once again think.... ok... SOON! 38 weeks, 4 days... and counting!
Well, I have been off work now since February 12th, and I think that is a major contributor as to why this is now more of a "waiting game" than ever before! We have had time to put the finishing touches on Kaylah's room, wash all of her cute little clothes, and pack the hospital bag full of everything everyone says you HAVE to have when you go into labor. The hospital bag is another fun piece of this waiting game since it sits right by the front door, looking equally anxious as we are for Kaylah to be here!
We really haven't had too much excitement since the last post, but have had a chance to enjoy some well overdue relaxation and family gatherings.
Peggie and Amie threw a fabulous baby shower at the beginning of February, and it was so great to see everyone who made it over for the day! Kaylah now has some awesome onesies waiting for her to show off... we have some very creative friends and family :) Thank you to everyone for another great celebration before the big day arrives, you are all so special to us and we appreciate all of your love and support!
We also took a Basic Baby Care class this month! Yeah, yeah, it probably seems like we are always going to classes, but this was the last one, and it was really helpful (hopefully!). This class went over what to expect when the baby is born, as the last class was all to do with the part leading up to labor, and went over such things as cord care, swaddling, feeding, and all the gadgets that come in handy when having a newborn. I'm sure we are going to remember everything we learned too. ;) Either way, hopefully it prepped us a little more for Kaylah's arrival!
Well, hopefully the next blog will be a little more eventful and I will have some exciting news that labor is progressing and Kaylah is on her way! Fingers crossed ;) We will keep you all updated! xoxo Sarah

30 Day Eviction Notice - Funny!
I am issuing 30 day notice for EVICTION. Tenant will have 30 days in which she can either gather her belongings and promptly vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which, she will be physically removed from the property.
She's being evicted due to breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the house, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back of the house were also made!
Remodeling and gutting of the home was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both the upper AND lower levels of the home. On top of which, the landlord has received numerous complaints about nightly disturbances.
After 30 days from this day that she doesn’t comply with the notice will result in immediate and forceful removal at my discretion.
I thought this was just too cute to not post on here :)
Will have a real update soon! xoxo Sarah

January Jabberwocky :)
So, it’s been a month since our last post. We really kinda suck at this blogging thing! As I say that, I start to run down the list of what we have been doing the last month that has kept us from taking an hour out of our day to update all our loved ones, and then I remember… oh yeah, we have been kinda busy lately! From “babymoons” to birthdays, from baby showers to doctor appointments, January has essentially been a blur – but a good blur all the same!
Ry and I took a vacation – some call this a “babymoon” – to Forestville at the start of 2010. If anyone knows Forestville like I did when I went to Sonoma State, you would wonder why we would even think to vacation in Forestville. Well, it turned out that we found a gem (Thanks to my Mom and Travel & Leisure Magazine) right in the heart of wine country, and coincidentally along the same path my friends and I used to float down the river in the hot Sonoma summers. The Farmhouse Inn ‘wowed’ us as soon as we drove up. On check in, we were greeted with an intro that included the words “local bath soaps and salts” and “roast s’mores in your room.” At this point, that excited me a little more than “a selection of free wine tasting vouchers” (a year ago these words would have been music to my ears!) :) We took a day trip that Saturday to all of the big winery towns – Calistoga, Napa, Sonoma – and I think the highlight of our day trip was surprisingly the Calistoga Geyser. We joked that they shoot this off by pressing a button every 15 minutes, but we laughed and gazed and even took an excessive number of pictures of us in front of the spout – just like all the other tourists.
Our Monday nights are now devoted to our Childbirth Preparation classes – a 6-week course – where we meet with 12 other couples and an instructor from 7-9pm. Each class, we are asked to bring a pillow and blanket, as the last 15 minutes of class are dedicated to breathing exercises and techniques on the floor of the auditorium. We have actually been finding the classes to be a lot of fun, and interesting too, as last week’s class included a hospital tour and this week’s class was all about choosing a pediatrician. Next week we also plan to attend a free Anesthesia class (I can almost guarantee Ryan might know this guy by name after the last two bouts he has had with anesthesia companies!) where an anesthesiologist will be coming to speak about pain control. In a couple weeks we will be attending a breastfeeding class too – figure we might as well do it all this time around – there’s no such thing as being too prepared, right?!
Emily’s baby shower was on the 9th, and it was a load of fun seeing everyone! Kathy, Lindsey, and Michelle put together a fabulous tea party – and I am pretty sure I was the biggest loser at the can’t-say-“cute”-or-“baby” clothespin game! Who can refrain from saying “cute” at a baby shower? It’s impossible. :) I think Hannah was the winner of this game by a long shot!
Ry’s company holiday party was the night of Emily’s shower, so we rendezvoused in Dublin for a nice dinner and white elephant exchange at Poppy Ridge Golf Course. After Ryan somehow opened two Snuggies as white elephant gifts, he ended up walking away with a baguette cutting board and Christmas sequin tie that’s been in the exchange for over 15 years. I walked away with a “Shake Weight” – yes the infomercial that swears it tones your arms in seconds – exactly what I need right now, right? No. Not really.
Liam turned 2 this month!! We had a blast getting together with everyone to celebrate this big guy’s special day! It was so fun to see Liam, Emma, and both Mylies running around the house, chasing after each other. I can only imagine what it is going to be like in a year when it’s these 4 running things and then 3 more little ones making their way around the house!
I swear we are coming to the end of January’s craziness, just a little more excitement then I am done typing! :)
Mom and Nik threw me an amazing baby shower this weekend! They did a wonderful job decorating, brought in some fab food, and got some fun games together that really got everyone laughing! It was so great to see everyone! Thank you to all of my girlfriends who made the trip down/up from Sonoma, Davis, Santa Barbara – wherever you came from – thank you! It meant so much to me to have such a great crowd there, and Ryan and I are very lucky to have such great friends and family in our lives who continue to give us so much love and support. It really makes all the difference!
Baby update: Kaylah is doing great! I am now 33 weeks, 4 days and had a checkup yesterday. The doc said she is on the smaller side, but that doesn’t mean anything other than we will be having a smaller, healthy baby. I weighed 6lbs 8oz when I was born, and she told me to my surprise, in most cases the baby’s weight depends on the mother’s weight at birth, and really has nothing to do with the father’s birth weight. You learn something new every day. :) I have another checkup in 2 weeks, and then checkups start weekly after that. It is crazy how quickly time flies, she will be here in no time at all!
Looking forward to seeing the Johnson and Sullivan side of the family in two weeks at the baby shower! Thank you, Peggie and Amie, I am really excited to see everyone again and can’t wait for another fun shower!
Heading out to Fresno this weekend to visit Emily and Chris! We are really looking forward to seeing them one more time before our girls come!
Oh, one more thing! I got a little creative this month and decided to paint some pictures for Kaylah's room! They have yet to be put up on the wall, but it's a start! :)

After a knee surgery, and busy Thanksgiving and Christmas... we made it through!
So let's see here! It's my turn to write hence why this is soo late!! ;) Well the past couple of months have been REALLY busy/crazy!! I am soo lucky to have such an amazing wife! She put up with alot over the last few months!
On November 24th I FINALLY had my knee surgery (ACL Reconstruction) after about 3 years! Haha. So as you can imagine I was pretty immobile, and we were not able to go very far for Thanksgiving! Our families were soo great and brought Sarah and I some leftover Thanksgiving feasts! Thank you to Terry, Jerry and Family for supplying us with the food!! Overall we had a great Thanksgiving in our new place.
As far as my knee, it is going GREAT!! I am soo happy I had it done! I am just amazed at what they can do nowadays. I have had no pain at all, and was back to work in 6 days! I am currently going to physical therapy 2 times a week. They have me walking without my brace, and I am ALMOST able to walk without a limp! Haha. It's getting better and better everyday! The reason I have the GREATEST wife in the world is because the 2 weeks I could not get around so well she waited on me hand and foot! PREGNANT and ALL! And she did not complain once! She would cook and bring me dinner, then clean up after! She would do my laundry and clean the house while I was stuck on the couch!! Oh and I almost forgot to mention that the day of my surgery she came home from work with a Samsung 42" LCD TV!! I just about died when she walking in the door with it!! (Thanks Dan for helping her!) So I know who is going to be getting up at 2,4,5 am with our baby girl!! Mom gets to sleep, she already waited on a baby for the last month!! (ME)
Second half of December was all about Kaylah's room (Yep, that's pretty much her name now!) Tom and Sally were nice enough to buy the crib and dresser for baby Kaylah!! Since we knew we were getting the dresser and crib soon, we had Sarah's brothers, Dan and Andrew, help us get the room painted, which only took about an hour with Andrew's PROFESSIONAL taping skills and Dan's painting ability!! Then my parents came over on Sunday 12/19 and helped us get the border up! Now we were ready for the furniture! Tom and Dan delivered them to us Tuesday last week, I felt soo bad (AGAIN) because I cant lift anything with my knee and walk up stairs!! Haha.... I swear that I have never been soo useless as I have been this year!
Christmas was amazing this year!! We were able to split the time between the families well since they only live about 2 minutes from each other! It was great being able to spend time with the Piersons on Christmas day! We played ping pong and had a delicious prime rib!! Sarah and I both got lots of fun stuff, and everyone seemed to have fun shopping for a baby girl because we got tons of baby clothes! (Thank you everyone).
After Christmas Sarah and I made time to get the crib put together and get Kaylah's room finished! We set aside all of Saturday morning to get the crib put together because of all the crib assembly horror stories we had heard prior! So after about 20 minutes of opening the box, Sarah and I had the crib put together, bumper on, and all the animals on the crib! We are convinced that we must have gotten the easiest crib in the world to assemble, haha! Now that we have that done, Kaylah's room looks great, and she has nicer furniture than Sarah and I do!! We spent Sunday cleaning/ rearranging our house, and then had a birthday dinner for my mom with Kevin and Janice at my parents place, and had some amazing food and company!! A perfect ending to an amazing weekend... by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM WE LOVE YOU!!!!!
So for New years Sarah and I are going to spend it with Kenny and Amie keeping it low-key and relaxing! On New Years day Sarah and I are going to The Farm House Inn, in Forestville, Ca which is just north west of Santa Rosa! We could not be more excited about getting away for a relaxing weekend up North in the Wine Country! Now it's Sarah's turn and I am sure she will update a lot faster than I did!! Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!!!!

Our Mini Vacation in So Cal!
A few weeks ago, we decided to plan a quick November trip down to La Mirada and Laguna Niguel to visit our Grandparents. It was so great to see Grandma Pat and Grandma Eileen - both who cooked up some spectacular food and made for some great company, as always! Ry drove me around the neighborhoods, pointing out where Peg and Ken grew up, the elementary school he used to skate at in the summer, and talked about the cool pond his Grandpa built in the front of the house. We also got to spend some time with Ron and Deb on Friday night, which was a blast! We realized later on that we didn't take any pictures in La Mirada! Ryan and I are still kicking ourselves!! Guess that means we will just have to see everyone again very soon :)
We said our goodbye's to Grandma Eileen on Saturday morning, and made our way down to Laguna Niguel for an early Thanksgiving celebration with my side of the family. We picked up some Honeybaked goodies on the way down to make for an easy celebration, as no one wanted to spend the day cooking when we only had 1 day to hang out with the family (as well as the trip being a bit last-minute, it only made sense!). My parents flew down from Los Gatos for the day, and my brother Andrew made the drive from Santa Barbara (Well, he really only made it half way before his steering column came apart and my parents had to pick him up in Inglewood, but that's a whole other story!)

It was so great to catch up with Grandma Bev and Grandpa Bob, as well as Aunt Pat and Uncle Chris. We only wish everyone lived closer so we would get to see them more often!
It seems like Little Miss really enjoyed her first flight and vacation in So Cal! She is actually kicking me as I type right now, she must have liked the pumpkin cheesecake I just ate (thanks again Peg!). Ryan goes in for his ACL reconstruction surgery on Tuesday the 24th, so we both have a nice short week... if only it were under different circumstances! Definitely worth it in time though~ Anyway, more stories to come on that, I'm sure! That's it for now :) ~Sarah
